A blog is the modern form of expression and opinion on
the Internet. The word blog comes from the mixture of words web and log. A blog
is actually a web page that is updated periodically with new material, which is
usually published by a person, expressing thoughts or opinions, some even get
to take the format of a personal diary. There are also blogs with pictures and
video.
Blogs offer many possibilities of use in educational processes. For
example, to encourage students to: write, exchange ideas, work as a team,
design, visualize instantly what they produce, etc. The creation of Blogs by
students offers teachers the possibility of requiring them to carry out
synthesis processes, since when writing on the Internet they must be punctual
and precise, in the subjects they deal with.
Teachers can use Blogs to approach students in new ways, without limiting their interaction exclusively to the classroom. For example, publishing materials immediately and allowing access to information or resources needed to carry out projects and classroom activities, thus optimizing time. Also, it offers students the possibility of improving academic contents, enriching them with multimedia elements such as: Videos, sounds, Images, animations or other Web 2.0.
